DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
Deep tissue massage uses more pressure than a Swedish massage. It’s a good option if you have chronic muscle problems, such as soreness, injury, or imbalance. It can help relieve tight muscles, chronic muscle pain, and anxiety.
During a deep tissue massage, your massage therapist will use slow strokes and deep finger pressure to relieve tension from the deepest layers of your muscles and connective tissues. You can be naked during this massage or wear your underwear.
While deep tissue may be more intense, you shouldn’t feel any pain or soreness.
- Deep tissue massage is a good option if you have a lot of muscle tension or chronic pain.
- Avoid this type of massage if you’re overly sensitive to pressure.
From shoulder tension to elevated blood pressure and heart health, stress affects us all. Working out muscle tension during a massage helps make chronic pain – as well as short term stress – easier to work through.
Bad posture can quickly become a bad habit that compromises proper spinal alignment. Therapeutic massage works to help loosen muscles & joints and reinforce the body’s natural movements.
Muscle tension can restrict circulation, but massage helps relax chronically tense and tightened muscles to promote increased blood flow and flush harmful toxins out of your body.
